Laudato Si’ Week 2024: Seeds of Hope

Laudato Si’ Week 2024: Seeds of Hope

The theme for Laudato Si’ Week 2024 (19 to 26 May) is Seeds of Hope, inspired by the Season of Creation 2024 symbol “firstfruits” and calls us all to be seeds of hope in our lives and in our world, rooted in faith and love.

For this year’s Laudato Si’ Week and Pentecost, we are asked to gather in community to contemplate and nurture seeds of hope for our “suffering planet” (LD 2). Laudate Deum is a reminder about the urgency of the Laudato Si’ message and the need for both personal and cultural transformation amidst our ecological and climate crises.

A Laudato Si’ Week Celebration Guide

Inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, the eight-day guide seeks to motivate people of goodwill to protect our Common Home through concrete actions and simple changes in the way we live.

Each day a specific theme is proposed that addresses aspects of integral ecology, such as waste reduction, renewable energy use, and water conservation. Each day there is an action, ways to put it into practice, its importance and impact on our planet; as well as supporting arguments based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and science.

Through inspirational quotes, practical activities, reflections and prayers, it is hoped that the guide will be a valuable resource to inspire meaningful change in our interaction with the environment. These actions during Laudato Si’ Week aim to foster a deeper respect for creation, promote sustainable habits, and deepen our commitment to a lifestyle that respects the Creator’s handiwork.
