SJES
Roberto Jaramillo SJ, Secretary of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES), announced the appointment of SM John Kennedy SJ, to lead the Jesuit integral ecology initiative (Ecojesuit) within the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network (GIAN).
A warm welcome is extended to Fr John Kennedy from the Madurai Province in India and is currently the Province’s Delegate for Education and the Jesuit Conference of South Asia’s Delegate for Ecology.
There is deep gratitude to Pedro Walpole SJ of the Philippine Province for his dedicated leadership of GIAN-Ecojesuit over the past seven years and SJES looks forward to his continued advocacy on social and environmental justice.
Father General Arturo Sosa also updated the composition and size of the SJES Advisory Committee.
The new members who took up their responsibilities at the end of October are Sister Daphne Sequeira RSCJ (India), Christopher Kerr (Director of the Ignatian Solidarity Network, USA), José Cecilio Magadia SJ (Assistant to Father General for Asia and the Pacific), and José Alberto Mesa SJ (Secretary to Father General for Secondary and Pre-Secondary Education).
As well, there is deep gratitude to the former members of the SJES Advisory Committee – José Yuraszeck SJ (Chile), Ludovico Lado SJ (North-West Africa), Luis Arancibia (Spain), and Sue Martin (Australia) and God’s blessings are asked upon them and for their ongoing work.
